Summer Again

I remember this...boiling hot days with a hot wind. It was such a day as this in 1991 that our house in Montclair burned, along with the houses of 3,000 other Oakland/Berkeley residents. Still, dry mornings with a tempting hint of cool in the air, but by 8AM you can tell it's going to be another scorcher, and then in the afternoon the hot winds kick in.

Ross is working downstairs...a million telephone interviews today...so we'll have to use the air conditioning all day, and probably all night. Sigh!

Time to start sifting and sorting, deciding what to take to Australia, to Serendipity, the little 25 acre farm near Exeter, and what goes to Oakland to the condo. Hmmm, I meant to post a couple of pics here, but didn't do that yet.

Here are a couple of Serendipity:

This is the screened in sunporch off the kitchen, with views to the rolling hills around Exeter.

And this is the view from the kitchen, dining room and sunporch. Looks a lot like California, doesn't it?

And here are a couple of shots of the condo in Oakland:

This is the outside of the building, which is in a nice, leafy neighborhood off Piedmont Avenue, walking distance to Bay Wolf Restaurant

And this is the living room, with a small deck off it, looking out into trees, a leafy courtyard, and some older, pretty houses and apartments across the street.

So everything seems to be coming together nicely for the move. Likely we'll go to the condo for August, September and October, and then blast for Australia around the first of November. The cats can be released from quarantine in Australia in late December, so maybe we can all be together at Serendipity by Christmas...a new phase of our lives begins!

Lovely, peaceful views there in Australia - lovely to have that much land.

Yes, I THINK it's this beautiful. We actually only saw the land for one hour, the day we made the offer, and then we left for the U.S. again. We're dying to get down there and see it all again. My in-laws visit every couple of days to be sure all is well, and a neighbor is feeding the three donkeys and six steers until we get down for good in October.

Never actually bought a place quite like the way we bought this one!
