White Scarf Pattern Link

Anonymous posted a question about the white scarf in the last post, and I couldn't answer because she is set up for noreply on blogger, so I thought I'd post the link to the pattern here . The directions are very clear, it's an easy piece to knit, and if you scroll down there are some great photos of how to wear the scarf. In fact, if you haven't visited knitty.com, I recommend it...lots of great patterns with good photos, too. In other news, it's off to the quilt shop today to pick up my "wadding" (thanks, Lily, for the correct name to ask for in Australia!) and the calico to use for the backing of the pink, blue and cream quilt. Funny, after I got my wonderful new Bernina with BSR, the first quilt I'm doing on it will be this remake of the antique quilt, which just has straight line quilting...no need for the fancy BSR for this quilt! That's probably good, since I haven't done much practicing with it yet. Next quilt, for sure. Had fun thi

Surfacing...With Pics!

At last, at last, at last, the piecing for this quilt is finished! The center section is sewn together and ready to be layered and quilted. There are two side sections that are not sewn together yet, two and a half blocks wide, and a one and a half block section across the top that needs sewing together. Then I'll quilt those other three sections and join the bugger together! I'm loving how it looks...it DOES look like the antique one that I'm copying. But boy will I be glad to abandon pink blue and cream for awhile! And here's the red and black poncho I took apart once and remade. I like how it turned out...remember the 60s when we all wore these things? Just goes to show...never throw ANYTHING away! And I also made this little furry scarf for winter. The second pic shows its odd construction, like a huge letter H with very long arms. You tie each set of ties separately. I think it turned out cute. This is an all nylon yarn, nothing fancy, but I think it wil

Blog-Free Interlude

What happened to February? Apologies for dropping off the face of the earth, but we've been trying to stay on California time for the last couple of weeks. DH has some on-line work with participants in California and in Europe, so he decided to remain on CA time for a little while. This means going to bed at 6PM and getting up at 2AM, local time...yikes! I'm being good wifey and keeping him company. Another 10 days or so of this, and we'll shift back to Australia time. In addition, I've been a little sidetracked from quilting with a yarn interlude. Bought some yarn and a circular needle so I'd have a project for the plane, and it was fun to knit a bit...haven't done that for years. However, I ran out of yarn before the poncho I was making was finished. What else is new?! Bought more yarn in contrasting colors, and finished up yesterday , only to notice a few major flaws here and there where I'd been knitting in the low-light levels on the plane. R
