Blog-Free Interlude

What happened to February? Apologies for dropping off the face of the earth, but we've been trying to stay on California time for the last couple of weeks. DH has some on-line work with participants in California and in Europe, so he decided to remain on CA time for a little while. This means going to bed at 6PM and getting up at 2AM, local time...yikes! I'm being good wifey and keeping him company. Another 10 days or so of this, and we'll shift back to Australia time.

In addition, I've been a little sidetracked from quilting with a yarn interlude. Bought some yarn and a circular needle so I'd have a project for the plane, and it was fun to knit a bit...haven't done that for years. However, I ran out of yarn before the poncho I was making was finished. What else is new?! Bought more yarn in contrasting colors, and finished up yesterday , only to notice a few major flaws here and there where I'd been knitting in the low-light levels on the plane. Ripped the entire thing out, rolled the yarn in balls, and it now resides in a paper bag, until I feel motivated again. The good news is that the little fluffy scarf I made before the poncho turned out fine and will be cozy when winter comes. I'll post a pic one of these days.

So, back to finishing up the antique remake quilt. Large center section is completed, most of the remaining large blocks are done and just need to be put together. Still need to make the little half-blocks that make up the border. I need to pick up some batting (wadding, here?) and backing fabric (thinking of using plain muslin (calico, here?) to mirror the original, and then start putting this baby to bed.

I've been reading everyone's blogs and posting comments from time to time, but have been a bad blogger buddy lately. Not sure what's up with that, but I think I'm back on track now.

What fun to be on a different timetable than everyone else.

Goodness! I can't imagine keeping those hours.

I think it's been pretty quiet all over blogland. Not just you.

Wow, that's tough going to bed at 6PM. I'm a night person so that would be a difficult schedule for me.

I was in a big yarn phase during the move when I didn't have access to my quilting stuff but I've set it aside for now in favor of quilting except for a doggie sweater I'm making Chesty. This one will probably be for next season. Knitting is a great travel project.

Dianne you're very disciplined! I wouldn't have had the heart to rip the whole thing apart, but I would have probably shelved it and then thrown it out later!

Oh and not blogging? Some of us are just too busy!! I try to blog as often as I can but sometimes it's only once a week and occasionally only once a fortnight. Would like to more often, but I simply run out of time.

Oh yes and it's called wadding here :)

I had to laugh at your ripping out your poncho.. I just finished a hat for my son on circular needles (the first time using them) and ripped it out three times before it was finished to my satisfaction!!!

Yeah, Rian's right: all quiet on the blog front, so it's nice to hear from you again. Can't wait to read about your remodeling as it commences.

(Thank you for your kind words on my post. xoxo)
