Road Trip!

Didn't get a chance to post before we left for the U.S., but we're in California at the moment. DH had a short biz trip to Chicago, but I stayed at the condo and lazed around, went to the movies (saw Waitress and Evening, both very good), and visited the local yarn shops. We were to have returned to Oz yesterday, but extended our trip for a few more days to make a short road trip up the eastern side of California. Here's a shot on the road just north of Lone Pine, looking west toward Kings Canyon National Park and Mt. Whitney. Today we'll meander a bit further north to Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, Mono Lake and Bridgeport. Then we head west into Amador County to visit good friends there, before returning to the Bay Area on Saturday.

Here's what I've done on the trip. First socks are plain stockinette, because I felt a pattern would distract from the gorgeous green Koigu variegated yarn. What fun to knit this stuff...it's so soft and fluffy it's a dream to work with, and feels great on your feet, too.
And here's my second pair of Jaywalkers, knit with variegated sunset colors of Crystal Palace's Panda Wool, a blend of wool, bamboo and a bit of nylon. This stuff is a bit splitty, but very soft and lovely to knit, too. I bought another color while in the Bay Area, very pale pink and cream. Can't wait to start on that, too. I'll post a pic of my other yarn purchases once we're back in Oz.
When I can get on the Internet on this trip I've been reading everybody. So good to stay connected to you all!

I have always wanted to drive up 395 east of Mt. Whitney. It must be hotter'n blazes over there. It's plenty warm here on the coast--must be all of 70 degrees.

What a gorgeous photo. Your socks are great. I bet they'll come in handy once you get back to Oz.

Wonderful picture of the sky. The socks are great, I've used the Panda yarn with bamboo and found the same problem but so worth the effort. Soft and cuddly socks.
Gorgeous first photo!!
Where are you? We need an update, Tracey

What an amazing photograph, I would put that on my desktop if I were you, it's beautiful. Almost needs one of those motivational quotes to go along with it.

Thank you for your kind words on my blog, I really appreciate it.
