California Buckeyes, At Their Peak

It's going to be pretty hot today, so I got out for my morning walk at 8AM to beat the heat. A 3.3 mile loop in the Regional Park, and I guess most folks were worried about the coming heat because it was very quiet in the park this morning. Only a few walkers, joggers, dog walkers, and 6 firemen doing their wind sprints up and down the hills. The California Buckeyes are really coming into their own. The flower spikes are exploding everywhere!
It is getting drier and drier, and the streams in the park are now nonexistent until late Autumn. The squirrels aren't deterred from searching for acorns in the dry grass!
In local news, The Fig Cafe is reborn! Sondra Bernstein and her partner have reinvented the space, which housed the restaurant that eventually became Sonoma's famous Girl & The Fig, and it re-opens tonight, as French-inspired Poppy! Wish we could be there tonight, but as often happens in Spring/Summer here, we are previously committed: Acoustic Sunset at Sonoma Botanical Gardens in Glen Ellen - picnic in the amphitheatre, followed by lovely live music. Spoiled for choice!

Eldest grandson Thomas graduated from San Francisco State University on Friday at Oracle Park...what a wondrous day. The last of our grandsons to graduate from uni...hooray! Ross and I started the day with a great walk along The Embarcadero to the Ferry Building, where we had a bite at the little Cambodian place there. It was a stunner of a day! Then in the late afternoon family gathered at MoMo's for early dinner and drinks with the graduate-to-be, his girlfriend, brothers, mom, dad & step-mom and Ross and I. Lots of hilarity and photos! Then on to Oracle Park for the actual event. There were 7,100 graduates, so fortunate that Oracle holds nearly 42,000 people! Chilly, breezy, and lots of speeches, but we made it, and the graduate was thrilled, as were we!

What's Up With Dianne, Anyway?

Well, I've been among the missing for far too long...again...and no excuses, either. Just feeling a bit down and overloaded, as we now face the prospect of moving out of this house (that we only moved into last October) so we can begin the renovation project. I just can't seem to get myself in gear. No energy, no motivation to get myself going. It's hard to think of all that's necessary to bring this project to fruition: choosing a zillion things like stoves, fridges, bathtubs, shower surrounds, tiles, colors, flooring, etc. ad nauseum, when you don't know which suppliers are good, what brands to choose, where the showrooms are. Sigh. I know it's silly, because it will all be worth it when we're finished, but I just can't seem to get into it this time around. We've built two houses before this project, and loved doing them both. I think once we finally get going I'll get my house mojo going again, but for now I feel a bit paralyzed. And...
