Beautiful soft temperature and no wind today, so I took a short walk combined with a visit to the Post Office. Cute houses, gorgeous flowers, another Little Free Library. What's not to love? Hope you are all having a glorious Monday!

Well, long time, no post. I have to say, I've never been in such a deep hole for so long. So glad to be back among the living after that horrible hiatus, and may it NEVER return! So, what's been going on, you might ask (that's for the 2.3 of you who may have wondered whether I might surface again one day!)? And thanks, QuiltingFitzy and Clare, for rattling my cage and motivating me to get going. We started on our renovation project in September, with the demolition of the garage and outbuildings. It's been a slow process from there, mainly because of the weather: lots of rain, mud, wind, muck. This picture is, I think, worth a thousand words. The garage has looked like this for the last two or three weeks, but today (Saturday, of all days!) there are workmen here putting on the outer "skin" of the garage. Chapter 97, The Perils of Pauline...

Long time with no post...again... and I need to start off with the sad news first. Our lovely little Alfonse le Soot disappeared last Saturday afternoon. He was a prince among cats, and we miss him so much. The likely culprits in his disappearance are Mr. Fox or Mr. Eagle, both of which abound in these parts. Alfonse was not a wanderer, and indeed, on this day he spent his time climbing around on the trellises and roofs of the house, climbing trees, and snoozing under shrubs in the sun. We saw him on the trellis around 3:30 PM, but by 5:20, at the dinner call and time to be locked in his kitty condo for the night, he didn't appear. We are so very sad...thank you for being part of our lives for 11 years, Alfonse. So, after a long hiatus during which we made a trip to California to recharge our batteries after the stresses of the construction, we are now in residence in the remodeled house, and I've begun to make the space that is the quilting studio a real, happening place.
