Bloglines, GRRRRRRR!

I am having SO much trouble trying to make Bloglines work. I loaded the Sub from Blog link to my favorites, and clicking on it seems to take me to the "add this blog to my feeds" place, but then the blog never appears when I click on "My Feeds". Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Can't seem to find much detail about this in the FAQ...any ideas?

after you "Sub with bloglines" it will bring up the page with the info on that blog. You must make a choice of which feed you want. Oftentimes there will be three different choices. I always go with the one that says Atom... good luck.

Welcome to Blogland!

Have you have downloaded the Bloglines Notifier which puts a little B on a blue background in the bottom right hand corner of the browser window?

If you right click with the mouse on the Blog you are reading, you will see "Bloglines Toolkit". Run the mouse over the arrow and then click on Subscribe to This Page, and then follow Tonya's instructions.

Wow, thanks Tonya and Clare...I think I'm now up and running with Bloglines.


Boy, that little box that needs ticking is pretty subtle. I've been using computers for years, but I doubt if I'd ever have realized I was supposed to tick one of those boxes. Not intuitive!

Well, QuiltingFitzy, I'm not going to be gone forever. We don't leave here till late October and we will no doubt be back up here a few times a year to visit family and friends, and my husband's clients. So, I'll keep posting and reading...maybe our paths will cross!

Nearly Finished!

It was a productive week, I'm happy to say! Realized at some point that there's no floor space that's safe to pin on and large enough for a queen-size quilt inside the house. So...a couple of days ago I set myself up in the garage after carefully sweeping up any dust and dirt. It was freezing out there! Worked out pretty well, though. Here's "Life is a Promise, Fulfill It", and all the layers stretched out and ready for pinning. Before I started the layering process, I decided to try to get one shot of the entire quilt top, for posterity. Not easy...had to perch on a ladder and it still isn't really satisfactory. I need a design wall! Back in the house, after all the hours of pinning, sore knees, sore fingers, but that quilt is all pinned together! You CAN Go Home Again...

We're in, at last! Gorgeous weather on Friday meant we could have a crew there bringing our stuff from the shed over to the house, even though the driveway (STILL!) isn't finished. Some guys wore shoes and schlepped through muck to bring stuff over, while others in socks delivered things to the appropriate rooms. In parallel, the carpet layers were putting carpet into the bedrooms, hallways and my quilting studio. What a performance! By late afternoon all was in, and we were exhausted. No pics yet of the lived-in house because it's all still too disorganized, but here's how it looked before we moved in...first up, the new kitchen: Here's me standing where the new barstools will go, once we find some tall enough. That end of the room will also have our dining table and chairs. And this is from the kitchen, looking toward the view end of the living room. Settling In...Can Quilting Be Far Behind?

Feeling human again...hooray! Visited the cats in quarantine yesterday...so, so sad! A picture is worth a thousand words...Here's Patch, looking completely miserable. And Spike and Cassie aren't much better... So, on to happier topics! Did I ever show you guys my first quilt? This was a log cabin quilt, obviously. I made all the blocks, not really tweaking to the fact that, no, really, each block is SUPPOSED to be EXACTLY the same size. After the fact I realized that these small variations were going to make for a wonky quilt, so the blocks sat for a couple of years. One day, I just said, "Blow it...I'm going to put them together." I did, and that was my first realization that sometimes a bit of variation can be quilted out...what a happy discovery! It was also my first time to try free-motion quilting, and it didn't go too, too badly. Now this quilt is on our bed in Australia.
